Don't skip breakfast, wake up with Research on Toast

Over 100 people will meet in Adelaide today for the National Centre for Vocational Education Research's (NCVER) breakfast presentation, Research on Toast.
The presentation will hear from Roger Harris and Robin Shreeve who will talk about Australia's vocational education and training (VET) system and lessons learnt in the UK and Europe.
Dr Tom Karmel, Managing Director, NCVER said with changes to Australia's VET system likely in the future, the ideas discussed will be timely.
"Australia can be proud of its VET system, but we can also learn from other countries," Dr Karmel said.
Ideas that will be discussed at Research on Toast include:
- Developing easier pathways between VET and higher education,
- Making recognition of formal and informal learning a practical reality, and
- Ensuring VET continues to be accessible and inclusive
Robin Shreeve is Principal and Chief Executive of City of Westminster College in the United Kingdom that delivers a wide range of work related and academic courses to over 8,000 students. Robin has published and spoken extensively on vocational education and training issues.
Professor Roger Harris was awarded the inaugural NCVER VET Researcher of the Year Award in 2008 for his outstanding contribution to VET Research. He has worked tirelessly to bring credibility and rigour to research in the VET sector with a particular focus on research that is relevant to practitioners.
