Informing policy and practice in Australia's training system

Australia's largest student survey now underway

1 June 2011

Over 300,000 students will be asked to rate the nation’s vocational education and training system in the coming months as the Student Outcomes Survey begins.

Managed by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER), the survey provides information on the employment outcomes and satisfaction with training of students who completed some vocational training in 2010.

Ms Sandra Pattison, General Manager, Statistics, NCVER said it is important that students have their say.

“While this survey is voluntary, the information that students provide helps improve the training system for future students,” Ms Pattison said.

“I encourage all students who are contacted to participate to tell us how relevant their training was, the benefits of their training and whether they found a job or moved onto further study after completing their course.”

Students can also go into a draw to win a share in an $11,000 cash prize pool just by taking part in the survey.

The Student Outcomes Survey is conducted on behalf of the Australian, state and territory governments. Results from this survey will be available on the NCVER website in late 2011.

Copies of the 2010 survey results are available from www.ncver.edu.au/publications/2315.html
