VET graduate outcomes at the click of a button
7 April 2009
Information on employment outcomes for vocational education and training (VET) graduates can now be accessed by using a new interactive online resource.
Developed by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER), SOS Online can assist career counsellors and parents to help young people decide their future training options.
SOS Online uses data from the annual Student Outcomes Survey that collects information on students' employment outcomes as well as satisfaction with their training.
Dr Tom Karmel, Managing Director, NCVER said the online resource shows how VET graduates fared after completing their training.
"SOS Online works by providing detailed information on employment outcomes, jobs and average salaries for a particular field of education and qualification," Dr Karmel said.
"For example, a student graduating from Certificate III or IV in management and commerce can expect to be earning on average $40,800."
SOS Online provides information on the following for various fields of education and qualifications:
- Top three occupations and industries
- Proportion of students that go on to further study
- Employment rates
- Average salaries
