In one, easy-to-use publication, the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) has compiled the key messages of all research and analysis work it published in 2005.
'The Research Messages 2005 is really one of the most convenient tools and effective means of gaining an insight into the 42 individual reports published in 2005,' says Dr Kaye Bowman, General Manager, NCVER.
'NCVER completed and published a wide selection of research work last year and this publication provides a snapshot of that output for users.'
'It covers work done by NCVER researchers, as well as work commissioned by NCVER through the competitive grants program funded by the Australian Government, and is a key information source for all those working in Australia's VET sector,' says Dr Bowman.
To help users, the 42 summaries are grouped under one of the five broad themes NCVER uses to organise its research and analysis work. The five themes are:
Industry and employers
Students and individuals
Teaching and learning
VET system
VET in context.
Within the broad themes, work is clustered under topics to help users gain a clearer picture of the key messages from across a body of work.
Among the topics covered are:
industry and employers views' of training and qualifications
learner groups, including work on Indigenous Australians and VET, the mature-aged and skill development activities, people with a disability in VET
literacy and numeracy
careers and pathways
regional issues and VET.
Each summary in Research messages 2005 provides a direct electronic link to the corresponding report. As part of NCVER's commitment to providing information widely, all reports published since 2001 can be downloaded free of charge.
