Earlybird extended for Apprenticeship Forum

Earlybird registration for NCVER's Research forum 'Apprenticeships: Sustaining Australia's skills base' has been extended to Friday 25 July 2008. This forum is set to provoke debate on apprenticeships for the future and includes presentations by well known industry leaders and respected researchers. In addition, a panel discussion featuring high profile industry leaders will be hosted by Peter Mares of ABC Radio National.

Australian vocational education and training statistics: Students and courses 2007

Growth in student numbers in Australia's public vocational education and training (VET) system varied between the states and territories in 2007.

Australian vocational education and training statistics: Students and courses 2007 shows the largest increases occurred in Tasmania (up 5.0%), Northern Territory (up 4.3%) and Western Australia (up 3.7%).

Course expectations and career management skills

Course completion and student satisfaction is likely to be influenced by how realistic the expectations of students are when they enrol. This report explores the idea that students' expectations would be more realistic if students have well developed career management competencies.

New VET glossary

A fully searchable VET glossary is now available on the NCVER website. The glossary contains VET-related terms and concepts, VET-related acronyms, key Australian historical documents, Australian VET organisations and some key international VET organisations. It excludes international VET terms and concepts that are widely used and for which the meaning is intuitive. The glossary can also be downloaded.
