Australian VET Statistics: Explained

Australian VET Statistics: Explained provides a synopsis of the VET system, collections, surveys, information systems and subsequent statistical reports. A summary of the AVETMIS Standards and references to other AVETMISS documents are included.


VET provider (Students and courses) collection

The VET provider collection provides data on training from government funded and privately operated training providers, both registered and non-registered. For detailed statistics and further information refer to Students and courses.


Apprenticeships and traineeships collection

The Apprenticeships and Traineeships collection provides data on all persons employed under a training contract and includes both apprentices and trainees. For detailed statistics and further information refer to Apprenticeships and traineeships.


MCEETYA VET in schools collection

MCEETYA VET in schools collection provides data on secondary school students that gain vocational education and training in schools such as practical work skills and nationally-recognised VET qualifications as well as their senior secondary certificate. Student outcomes survey

The Student outcomes survey provides information on the extent to which vocational education and training meets the needs of students who have successfully completed some training. For detailed survey results refer to Student outcomes.


Employer views survey

The Survey of employer use and views measures employers' use and views of the VET system and provides detailed information on the way employers interact with the VET system and their satisfaction in these dealings. The survey was first conducted in 2005. Similar surveys were conducted in 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2001. For detailed survey results refer to Employer views.


VET financial data collection

The VET finance collection provides financial information about Australia's public VET system and focuses on financial performance, financial position and how activities are financed. For detailed statistics and further information on the VET finance collection refer to Finance.
