Australian vocational education and training statistics: VET in Schools 2005 - Summary

This publication provides information about senior secondary school students undertaking vocational education and training (VET) during 2005, either through school-based apprenticeships and traineeships or through other VET in Schools programs.

A new arrangement for the national reporting of VET in Schools statistics was implemented for 2005 data. Due to this break in series, 2005 data should not be compared with data reported from previous years.

Highlights

In 2005:

  • There were 182 900 VET in Schools students.

  • 37.4% of school students undertaking a senior secondary certificate participated in VET in Schools programs.
  • 13 000 VET in Schools students were undertaking a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship.
  • 170 000 VET in Schools students were enrolled in VET in Schools programs, other than a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship.
