Australian vocational education and training statistics: Financial information 2006

 

  • Operating revenues for the total VET system in 2006 were $5324.7 million, an increase, in nominal terms, of $298.5 million (5.9%) when compared with those of 2005.

  • Revenue from the Australian Government increased by 5.1% from 2005.

  • Revenue from the state and territory governments increased by 3.8% from 2005.

  • Revenues from fee-for-service activities increased by 14.3% compared with 2005, and by 52.2% since 2002.

  • Fee-for-service revenues were 13.7% of total operating revenues compared with 10.6% in 2002.

  • Total operating expenditures increased from $5267.9 million in 2005 to $5490.6 million in 2006.

  • The largest relative growth in expenditures, which increased by 5.9% compared with 2005, was for payments to non-TAFE providers for VET delivery.

  • Net assets in the VET sector as at 31 December 2006 were $7588.6 million.
