Australian vocational education and training statistics: Pocket guide

• There were 1.68 million students enrolled in the public VET system in 2006.
  
  
• Around one in nine people aged 15 to 64 years participated in the publicly funded VET system in Australia in 2006.
  
  
• The number of apprentices and trainees in-training as at 31 December 2006 was 397 400.
  
  
• 87.8% of graduates were employed or in further study approximately six months after their training in 2006.
  
  
• Total operating expenditures in Australia’s public VET system increased from $4874.5 million in 2004 to $5173.6 million in 2005.
