This publication presents an analysis of the training activity of apprentices and trainees throughout 2002, based on updated quarterly data. Major changes in apprentice and trainee activity between 1996 and 2002 are identified, including apprentice and trainee characteristics, qualifications undertaken, number of traditional apprenticeships, and occupation groups of apprenticeships and traineeships. The uptake of National Training Package qualifications is also examined. Figures presented in this publication are derived from the March 2003 collection of Australian apprentice and trainee statistics.
