There is considerable interest in the factors that influence the completion of an apprenticeship or traineeship. This paper examines a range of demographic and institutional factors which measure the impact and likelihood of completion. These include the student's age, gender, residential region, Indigenous status, whether they reported a disability, prior education, qualification level, and occupation. The analysis is based on the student cohort who commenced their apprenticeship or traineeship in 1998-1999. This paper was presented to the Australian Labour Market Research Workshop held in Perth from 6 to 7 December, 2004.
