Purpose

The project is a major contribution to the upcoming UNESCO publication 'The international handbook of TVET research' to be published by Kluwer Academic publishing in late 2006. Edited by Professor Felix Rauner of the University of Bremen, the purpose of the Handbook is to document good practice and historical developments in relation to the growth of TVET research world-wide.

Approach

Synthesis-based desk research

Research questions

NCVER was commissioned to develop two (2) chapters reflecting an Australian perspective. These include:

* The genesis of VET research in Australia (Phil Loveder and Hugh Guthrie)

* National reporting of VET: A case-study of Australia (Phil Loveder)

Methodology

Both chapters required an informed documenting of the chronological history of the development of research and performance reporting in VET in Australia, including key dates, reports and initiatives. The chapters were written in a format that would be accessible to both technical and non-technical education readers.

Organisations

This project has been funded under the NCVER Core-research program.
