Registrations open today for the 21st National Vocational Education and Training Research Conference, colloquially known as ‘No Frills’, to be held for the first time in Adelaide on 11-13 July 2012.

Co-hosted by NCVER and TAFE SA, this special 21st anniversary conference will feature renowned national and international speakers, and special events to mark the occasion.

“This year’s ‘No Frills’ will continue its tradition of bringing researchers and practitioners together. But we are adding some frills to celebrate its longevity”, said Ms Francesca Beddie, General Manager, Research, NCVER.

The program features keynote presentations from:

  • Robyn Archer AO, Creative Director – Centenary of Canberra (2013); Artistic Director – The Light in Winter (Federation Square, Melbourne); Chair – Adelaide College of Arts Advisory Board
  • Professor David Finegold, Senior Vice President for Lifelong Learning and Strategic Growth at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; member of NCVER’s editorial board
  • Adrian Smith, Chair, South Australian Training and Skills Commission; Managing Director, Sydac Pty Ltd.

“We have a record number of papers this year, which has provided great variety to the program, giving both new researchers and highly experienced ones the opportunity to present alongside each other. We are also bringing NCVER’s editorial board together to share ideas on ensuring the quality of research on tertiary education and training”, said Ms Beddie.

Delegates can also register for pre-conference professional development workshops that cover a range of topics such as research methodology, accessing data and writing for the media.

Delegates will also be able to experience a number of special events including the Intelligence Squared (IQ 2) live debate timed to coincide with the conference.
