Seven research grants have been awarded by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) to explore the policy and operations of Australia’s vocational education and training system.

Ms Jodieann Dawe, NCVER’s National Manager, Research and Business Development, said “A highly competitive grant process resulted in the receipt of 51 proposals from some of Australia’s leading academics. The selection panel carefully assessed each proposal according to how well it addressed our objectives, and how it would add to our existing body of research.”

This round of funding has been targeted to address three key topics identified in NCVER’s Research prospectus 2015-16:

  1. The role of VET skills in raising national productivity
  2. Engagement, retention and completions in post-school VET programs: what works and why?
  3. Student choice and the student experience in the current VET climate

“We welcome several new research partners and look forward to working with them and our previous researchers to investigate issues critical to the national training system, and develop insightful research that informs policy and good practice.”

We are pleased to announce that funding has been awarded to the following organisations through the National Vocational Education and Training Research (NVETR) program:
